The InPost for WooCommerce plugin and InPost PL plugin for WordPress are vulnerable to unauthorized access and deletion of data due to a missing capability check on the 'parse_request' function in all versions up to, and including, 1.4.0 (for InPost for WooCommerce) as well as 1.4.4 (for InPost PL). This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to read and delete arbitrary files on Windows servers. On Linux servers, only files within the WordPress install will be deleted, but all files can be read.
The vulnerability (CWE-862 — missing permission check) stems from the 'parse_request' function not verifying whether the calling user has appropriate permissions. Any unauthenticated user can invoke this function over the network without any additional prerequisites. On Windows servers, reading and deletion of any files in the system is possible. On Linux servers, the scope of file deletion is limited to WordPress installation, however reading includes all available files.
An unauthenticated attacker can read sensitive server files (e.g., configurations, credentials) and permanently delete files, which may lead to data loss or complete service disruption.
Immediately update InPost for WooCommerce plugin to version higher than 1.4.0 and InPost PL plugin to version higher than 1.4.4. Patches are available in the WordPress.org repository. According to available references, the fix was introduced in changeset 3115602 for the InPost for WooCommerce plugin.
InPost for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress in all versions up to and including 1.4.0 and InPost PL plugin for WordPress in all versions up to and including 1.4.4.
